Wallace lifts Hopkins over Hamden Hall
Nora Wallace scored off an assist from Alee Ramos in the second half to lift the Hopkins girls’ soccer team to a 2-1 prep school win over Hamden Hall on Saturday.
Erin Kinney scored in the first half for the Hilltoppers (5-2).
Becca Parante scored for the Hornets (5-3-2). Kinney and Hamden Hall’s Meg Alexander, who had an assist, were named players of the game.
St. Joseph 2, Greenwich 1: Jessica Shloth and Sarah Farssetto scored for the Trumbull school in a Fairfield County Conference win at Greenwich.
Alyssa Gillespie had an assist for St. Joseph (11-0).

North Branford 42, Ellington 0: Quarterback Gary Esposito threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the streaking Thunderbirds (5-0) to their Pequot interdivision win in Ellington.
Esposito had 10 carries for 127 yards, including touchdown runs of 10 and 9 yards. He completed 8 of 18 passes for 154 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown pass to Ed Harris and a 35-yard touchdown pass to Alex Robertson. Harris, who also had a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown, had two receptions for 57 yards. The Knights fell to 4-1.
Morgan 47, Windsor Locks/Suffield 27: Kevin Smith carried 10 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Huskies to a Pequot interdivision win at Windsor Locks.
Jeremy Finkeldey carried 13 times for 104 yards and scored once on the ground and again on a reception from quarterback Eric Berzinskas, who completed 9 of 19 for 159 yards and three touchdowns for Morgan. Continued...
Nick Tampanaro made 10 tackles and Mike Lee had an interception for the Huskies (2-3).
Old Saybrook/Westbrook 31, Housatonic/Wamogo 6: Jason Cane rushed 12 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns as the Rams won their first game of the season in the Pequot Conference game at Falls Village.
Cameron Dunlap rushed four times for 117 yards, including a 97-yard touchdown for Old Saybrook/Westbrook (1-3).

Valley Regional 5, Haddam-Killingworth 2: Eric Dunn had a goal and an assist to lead the Warriors to a Shoreline Conference win at Deep River. Justin Norris scored twice, and Dave Johns and Jon Digler once for Valley Regional (6-3-3).
FIELD HOCKEY
Newtown 1, Lauralton Hall 0: Lisa Zendel scored with 11 minutes, 55 seconds left in the first half to give the Nighthawks (9-1-1) their South-West Conference win in Milford. Goalie Rebecca Napolitano made eight saves for the Crusaders (3-6).
