2 people killed in crash after car leaves road
PLAINFIELD (AP) — Authorities say a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 395 left the roadway and struck a large tree, killing two men.
State police say 26-year-old Michael Batchek of Voluntown was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that occurred at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Jeremy Dubois of Jewett City, was rushed to Backus Hospital in Norwich, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Dubois was driving a Ford Mustang south of Exit 88 when the vehicle traveled off the right shoulder and exited the road before hitting the tree.
An investigation continues.
