LETTER: Pancake benefit will help veterans’ housing

On Thanksgiving Day morning, the owners of Chip’s Family Restaurant in Orange, siblings George Chatzopoulos and Dina Bajko, held a pancake breakfast fundraiser for The Homefront Project of Columbus House in New Haven. All proceeds, including tips of the wait staff volunteers, were donated.

The money will help to defray costs of renovating a house on Davenport Avenue that will be used as a transitional home for up to 14 homeless area veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The fundraiser was a huge success. The generosity of the owners and staff of Chip’s and the many wonderful people who turned out was heartwarming.

The Homefront Committee of the Columbus House extends its grateful appreciation to everyone who participated in this “thanksgiving” effort for our veterans.
