Smith, Southern sink St. Rose in OT

Senior Allyson Smith hit a layup with 19 seconds left in overtime to help Southern Connecticut clinch a berth in the NE-10 tournament with a 69-67 victory over St. Rose at Albany, N.Y., Saturday.

Jacqueline Johannes finished with a team-high 18 points and seven rebounds for the Owls (12-14, 9-12) while teammate Shelley Pierson had 15 points and 12 rebounds,

Albertus Magnus 82, Suffolk 70: Kendrea Walker had 20 points and 20 rebounds for Albertus Magnus in a GNAC win at Boston. Albertus clinched the No. 3 seed and will host a GNAC tournament game at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Krystal Bryant added 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Falcons (12-13, 8-4), who outrebounded Suffolk by 22 (55-33). Kristina Hayner had a career-high 24 points for Suffolk (14-11, 7-5).

Robert Morris 61, Quinnipiac 57: Angela Pace had 15 points for Robert Morris, which clinched the Northeast Conference regular-season title at Moon Township, Pa.

Monica Jones added 12 points for the Colonials (20-7, 15-1). Courtney Kaminski had 15 points to lead the Bobcats (10-17, 5-11).

Pace 60, New Haven 56: Dominique Stellmacher’s 27 points was not enough for New Haven in this NE-10 game at West Haven.

Taylor Josey had 17 points to lead Pace (20-6, 17-4). Helin marte added eight for the Chargers (12-14, 10-11).

Yale 70, Penn 38: Megan Vasquez led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points as the Bulldogs rolled to an Ivy League win at New Haven. Yoyo Greenfield and Melissa Colfield had 10 a piece for Yale (11-13, 6-4).

MEN’S BASKETBALL Continued...

Vermont 77, Fairfield 67: At Burlington, Vt., Evan Fjeld scored 17 points to lead Vermont.

Nick Vier, Maurice Joseph and Marqus Blakley added 14 apiece for the Catamounts (21-8), who won their seventh in a row.

After the Stags (18-9) got within a point, 58-57, on a three-point play by Colin Nickerson with 4:49 remaining, the Catamounts went on an 11-0 run.

Nickerson scored 20 points and Derek Needham 15 for Fairfield.

New Haven 60, Pace 57: Kelvin Jackson had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Chargers to their Northeast-10 Conference win at West Haven. Cassius Chaney had 15 points and 15 assists for the Chargers (5-20, 5-16).

St. Rose 87, Southern Conn. 71: St. Rose (18-9, 11-9) won the NE-10 game at Albany, N.Y. despite 24 points from Tobin Carberry. Kieran Ramsey added 17 points for the Owls (2-23, 1-18).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

Quinnipiac 8, Brown 1: Kallie Flor and Heather Hughes each scored twice for host Quinnipiac, which clinched a home series in the ECAC playoffs next weekend.

Brittany Lyons had three assists for the Bobcats (18-8-8, 11-4-7 ECAC), whose opponent next weekend is still undetermined. Lauren Jolie had the only goal for the Bears (3-21-4, 1-18-3).

GYMNASTICS Continued...

Bridgeport wins two: Yale’s Brigitte Kivisto won the all around with a score of 38.5, but Bridgeport won the tri-meet with 190.7 points, beating the Bulldogs and Southern Conn. State at New Haven.
