SEYMOUR — U.S. Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro, D-3, received her party’s nomination for re-election at Monday night’s 3rd Congressional District Convention at Seymour Middle School.

DeLauro has served 20 years in Congress and is seeking an 11th term.

In her acceptance speech, DeLauro thanked her supporters and highlighted some of the achievements made by Democrats in the past year. She pointed to the hard-fought health care reform bill and passage of the Recovery Act, which invested $450 million into Connecticut’s infrastructure.

She also took a moment to honor American soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan and beyond and pointed to Congress’ passage of the GI Bill of Rights, “to expand access to educational opportunities for our men and women returning from overseas.”

Finally, DeLauro vowed to “to roll up my sleeves and keep fighting for people, for families, and for Connecticut.”
