Baseball

‰Batter’s Box is holding a one-week summer baseball development camp for boys and girls ages 6-12 from Aug. 9-13 at the Center Street fields in Woodbridge. All phases of the game will be taught. ‰The George J. Hummel Little League in Seymour will be offering fall baseball and softball programs. There will be two divisions for baseball, 8-9 and 10-11. Softball will have 8-9, 10-11 and 12-14 divisions. The age cutoff for baseball is April 30, 2010; for softball, Dec. 31, 2009. Games against surrounding towns will be offered as well as games under the lights. The program will begin just after Labor Day and conclude in the third or fourth week in October. The registration fee is $50, which includes a T-shirt and a cap or visor. Registration will take place at Casagrande Field on Aug. 14 from 10 a.m.-noon. ‰The New Haven County District Board of Approved Basketball Officials is accepting applications for the 2010 I.A.A.B.O. written examination. Membership is open to applicants 18 and older as of Nov. 2, who establish a satisfactory record of health and character and reside in New Haven County. ‰The first Bud Conlan Hockey Camp will be held Aug. 23-27 from 5-8:30 p.m. at Bennett Rink in West Haven for children ages 5-13. Participants will have the unique opportunity to meet their future potential coaches and learn from the most experienced professional coaches in the area. The fee is $125.
