Clean energy tech start-ups will share $4M?
ROCKY HILL — The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund said Thursday it is launching an Operational Demonstration Program, backed by $4 million in funding over the next two fiscal years, that will fund the installation, demonstration and testing of early stage companies in the state that make clean energy technologies.
The program will be able to support up to six new projects each year.
The main goal of the program is to competitively select and fund projects that show strong commercial promise and demonstrate the potential to bring significant benefits to Connecticut, such as job creation, reduced energy costs and environmental benefits.
“Programs such as the Operational Demonstration Program are critical to accelerate the growth of the clean energy sector in Connecticut,” said Lise Dondy, president of the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund.
“Commercial success of emerging technologies in this sector will not only bring competitive alternatives to fossil fuel-based technologies, but will also bring job creation to the state.”
Eligible projects can be full systems, system components or manufacturing innovations in the following areas:
ÇElectricity generation using renewable energy sources or high-efficiency methods.
ÇAdvanced energy efficiency and energy management for buildings and industrial processes.
ÇHydrogen and biofuels production for stationary electricity generation.
To be eligible for funding, technologies must have been proved technically feasible in a laboratory or other experimental setting and be field operational. Continued...
The Operational Demonstration Program is one of three investment programs offered by Connecticut Clean Energy Fund and Connecticut Innovations to spur the development and commercialization of clean energy technologies in the state.
