Reward in Essex alpaca stabbings raised to $13,000
ESSEX- An alpaca farm owner is now offering a $13,000 reward for information resulting in the arrest of whoever stabbed four of his alpacas to death last month.
George Mclauchlan, owner of Applesauce Acres alpaca farm, was able to increase the reward from $2,500 to $13,000 Thursday thanks to the tremendous support from donations.
Four of Mclauchlan’s alpacas were found stabbed to death on Dec. 23 around 8 a.m. Since that time a criminal investigation has been started by the state police.
Mclauchlan said Thursday that the troopers are working several strong leads, but could not discuss any information specifically due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. Mclauchlan said he is still accepting pledges for the reward amount, and will collect the money from donors when and if someone comes forward with the information.
“I want to thank all the family, friends and strangers who contributed,” Mclauchlan said, “It’s nice to see the community come together like this.”
Anyone with information or wishing to donate can call Mclauchlan on his cell phone at (860) 662-4042 or email him at macgeorge711@aol.com.
Police are also asking anyone who may have seen vehicles or people in the area of Bushy Hill Road anytime overnight at the time of the incident to call (860) 399-2100. All information will be kept confidential.
